Lumen Christi, Montrose to Showdown

(Photo by, Ryan Kerwin) By, Gabriel Schray | JTV Sports | November 6th, 2018 Jackson, Michigan -- After a convincing 33-0 win, The Titans of Lumen Christi continue their march towards a state championship this Saturday, against Montrose. The Titans are hoping to record a perfect season and a three-peat. Lumen Christi running back Nick Thomas finished one of the great performances in Jackson area football history last Friday night, as he found his way into the endzone five separate times. Just below freezing temperatures didn’t hamper the running back, as he propelled 11-0 Lumen Christi to its’ third straight regional championship. Now they’ll face off with powerhouse Montrose in the State Semifinal on Saturday. The Titan’s defense recorded its’ third shutout this season, in a five touchdown win over the Blissfield Royals. Thomas was responsible for every score in the 33-0 win. Blissfield finishes its’ season 7-5, after a second district championship in as many seasons. The Royals were not a favorite to win in the first, or second round of the playoffs, and have backed in twice in a row. The Royals must relish the underdog role, because they have certainly lived up to it. The Titans and…

5-1 Cougar’s Basketball Team Rolling

(File Photo Courtesy of Spring Arbor University) By, Gabriel Schray | JTV Sports | November 8th, 2018 Spring Arbor, Michigan-- The Spring Arbor University men’s basketball team is off to a hot start. They stand at 5-1 on the season, and are looking to pick up another win tonight against Alma and the Scotts. A win would mean a five game win streak for the Cougars. And a win against and MIAA school would also be an increase in momentum for SAU. The Cougars and Scotts haven’t played since 2014, when the Cougars won their first in what is now a 1-2 all-time series. The 2014 contest was a tight game, a final of 63-61, and it will likely be close again tonight. They lost by margins of five and two in their first two appearances, so tight endings have become a theme for the two. A win tonight would move the series to .500 as well. On Saturday, Paul Marandet became the 45th player in Spring Arbor University history to reach 1,000 career points in a 78-67 win over Ohio Christian University to close out the Trent Allen Memorial Classic. Marandet entered the contest needing just 11 points to…

Norris is now entering his second season as the Head Coach at Jackson, and will be looking to improve the program even further. He expanded his thoughts on last year and more in the November 7th edition of Inside the Locker Room. They ended last season on a loss, and will look to open up a new winning streak tonight at home. The Jets were 12-2 when at home last season. Norris discussed the importance of his returners (Osebor, Pierce and Sietsema). All three were Freshman last season. Osebor was the most efficient of the bunch, pitching in four points per game and shooting 58% from the floor. The Jets will also benefit from transfer Connor Pelham. Pelham played…
