12th Annual Walton Christmas Open House

The community is invited to “12 Years of Christmas” at the Walton Insurance Group at 2929 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 4 to 7 pm. Like the “12 Days of Christmas,” this year, our office has numerous fun filled family activities to enjoy with children and grandchildren. Families will be treated to a Hot Chocolate Bar, including a Visit from a few of Santa’s Reindeer, prior to a tour of our office, completely decorated for the Holiday Season. During the tour, they will be treated to live holiday music. They will also be greeted by Mr. & Mrs. Claus along with some of their very special friends. Children will be visiting with Santa, while Mrs. Claus is busy in the kitchen baking cookies for the children to decorate. Making their memories complete, we will be taking pictures of the children with Santa and placing them in a Holiday Keepsake. Their final destination is “Toyland” where each child will pick a gift from a wide variety of toys to take home. This event is FREE to all who would like to attend. In addition, donations will be accepted to help support the Walton Insurance Group…

Jackson’s Shonte Suddeth named JTV Sports Player of the Year

JTV Sports Player of the Year Suddeth anchored Jackson High to eight wins and playoff appearance with dominant running  By Mike Moore Staff Writer  Jackson – His summer routine was one dedicated to basketball. And spending most of that time in the Detroit area playing with his AAU team, Shonte Suddeth admitted there was little time to focus or work on football before training camp started. “For a few years, I had people telling me, ‘this was going to be the year,’” he said of the football team. “So this summer, I decided to do whatever I could to make sure that happened. I decided I was going to focus on only football.” So he stayed in the area, putting his basketball homework on hold. “I went to all the 7-on-7’s. I did the boot camps, the workouts,” Suddeth added. “I took it a little more serious this season. I knew what I was playing for.” The payoff is impossible to miss, as Suddeth was the go-to guy on Jackson team that had its best season in years, and the junior running back was named 2015 JTV Sports Player of the Year. “He’s just a great kid and a fanatic…

JTV Sports Coach of the Year After seven wins in five years, Farley took Jackson to district final on the gridiron  By Mike Moore Staff Writer  Jackson – This certainly wasn’t the best of situations to walk into. A program teetering on the edge of becoming irrelevant, and maybe worse, an expectation that it couldn’t change. After making the postseason in 2009, the Jackson High football program went a staggering 1-17 the next two seasons. Enter Scott Farley. Commence the turnaround. “We knew from the beginning this would all be part of a process,” Farley said earlier this week of his approach when he took over at Jackson prior to the 2013 season. “You saw all the things that were building, the things I thought we were capable of. We had some adversity, but we were able to grow from it.” It would take time, and Farley knew patience would have to accompany his teaching. In 2013, the Vikings went 2-7. In 2014, just 1-8. “When you have kids that buy into the vision, it makes a big difference,” Farley added. The Vikings bought in, and their patience paid off this fall with an 8-3 record, a trip to the…
