Tim Daniels named Spring Arbor University Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University head men’s soccer coach Nathan Miller has announced the addition of Tim Daniels as the program’s new assistant coach.   “I’m thrilled to add Tim to our program,” said Miller. “He is going to make us better in a number of ways. He has a sharp soccer mind, is a hard worker and, most importantly, loves the players.”   Daniels joins the Cougars coaching staff after spending the past season as the first assistant at Naples High School in Naples, Florida. He owns a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) E License, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from fellow Crossroads League member Taylor University in 2015.   A Wheaton, Illinois native, Daniels was a three-year captain as a player for the Trojans, which is where the relationship between him and Miller began. Miller, who was an assistant coach at Taylor from 2010-12, recruited Daniels to TU and coached the standout midfielder for two seasons before accepting the head coaching position at SAU.   “Tim and I have a relationship that goes beyond soccer and I have complete faith that he will make a tremendous impact in our…

‘Part of the process’

Parrott has goal of building Northwest baseball into a yearly contender   By Mike Moore Staff Writer   Jackson — There’s a certain energy here, in the way he talks, the way he’s focused and, as many throughout the Northwest baseball program hope, the way Cory Parrott will build.   In fact, the construction is already under way, maybe even slightly ahead of schedule.   A year ago the Mounties won seven games, but under Parrott, a first-year varsity skipper, the guys in red and black are 10-12-1.   “And about four of those losses could have gone either way,” he said bluntly.   Asked about the season so far, Parrott was quick to credit those around him.   “The kids are fantastic,” he said. “We have great chemistry with this group. It was a group that was really looking for something, and I think they’ve eaten up what we’ve brought to the table.”   In his first year with Northwest, Parrott is no stranger to the diamond.   He played at Western, graduating in 1999 before beginning his college career at Spring Arbor University.   When his playing days ended he went back to Western to teach, and coach…

Tips to help you Breathe Easier from Aspen One Hour

May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness month. One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® has tips that can help you breathe easier.   Jackson, MI (May 10, 2016) –This year’s warmer than normal winter has delivered a bounty of blooms in many parts of the country. Flowers, trees and plants are budding and sprouting. For many people this also brings runny noses, itching throats, and the sounds of coughing and wheezing. According to the National Asthma and Allergy Foundation the month of May is peak season for asthma and allergy suffers. They estimate about 50 million Americans have allergies. To help breathe a little easier, the technicians at One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® recommend this spring checklist: Spring Cleaning Dust and clean your home frequently. Wash bed linens and clothing weekly in hot water to help kill bacteria and dust mites. Avoid the Temptation to Air out the House We know it’s tempting to open up the windows and doors, to let the air in, but it could also bring in pollen from outside. Change your Air Filter Replace the filters for your HVAC system monthly or as required by your system’s manufacturer. A clean filter helps trap dust…

Wiffleball Returns by Popular Demand

Coming this June, the City of Jackson Parks and Recreation Department will bring back its Adult Wiffleball League. Joe Hawley, Recreation Services Coordinator for the Department says the league is one of the more popular programs for young adults in the area. “Last year was our first time trying Wiffleball, and we were able to fill our league to capacity. Usually it takes a few seasons of a new program to get the participation we are looking for. To achieve that in just one year speaks to the popularity of the league. Bringing it back for a second year is a no-brainer for us.” Registration for the league is currently taking place and is open to the first 12 teams. Games will be played Friday evenings in Ella Sharp Park beginning June 17th. This is an 18 and over league.   The deadline to register is June 13th. The cost is $150 per team. For more information, contact Hawley at 517-990-6289 or visit www.cityofjackson.org/adult.
