Southerly winds ahead of a low pressure system will draw up a warm and increasingly moist airmass. As a result the dry weather pattern that we have seen over the past few days will give way to showers and thunderstorms by Thursday. Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. South southeast wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. East southeast wind 9 to 13 mph. Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Dry Weather Continues
An area of high pressure will build into Ontario today. This fair weather system will generate southeast winds here in Michigan...drawing a dry airmass into the state. A low pressure system will attempt to move in from the west on Tuesday...but it will be slowing down. Thus it looks like any chance for rain will hold off until Wednesday. Today: Sunny, with a high near 69. East southeast wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47. East southeast wind 11 to 14 mph. CP Federal City Square Ribbon Cutting Scheduled for May 5
After nearly two years of planning, fund raising and construction, city officials and project donors will unveil the Glidden Parker mural next month. CP Federal City Square will house the mural within Horace Blackman Park. The structure also includes an art exhibit viewing area, a stage for outdoor performances and events, and a drop-down screen for outdoor movies. O’Harrow Construction began work on the structure last summer. “Despite spearheading the project over the last three years, I’ve actually never seen the mural in real life so I’m excited to see it - in all its glory - at the ribbon cutting,” said Derek Dobies, 6th Ward councilman and project spokesman. “This project stands as a testament to what can happen when a community comes together to rebuild their city and make a conscious effort to preserve a piece of art history.” Funding for the project began with the success of two competitive grants - one from the National Endowment for the Arts and one from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. Since those funds were awarded in 2015, eight more community organizations stepped forward to help fund the project. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Friday,…

A weak cold front will diminish as it slips down into the Northern Great Lakes region today and tonight. An area of high pressure will then build into Michigan for Monday. As this feature tracks east on Tuesday a warmer and increasingly moist airmass with gradually build into the area for the middle part of the week. Today: Sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Tonight: Clear, with a low around 39. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Monday: Sunny, with a high near 68. East wind 6 to 9 mph. Saturday’s high temperature in Jackson was 60 at 5:43 PM, the low was 37 at 6:28 AM. Normal high for today is 62.
