Magic for the House with Heart.  Join the Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect for “Magic for the House with Heart” featuring Daniel Martin and presented by GSA.  VIP Pre-show ticket includes Mix & Mingle, music, hearty hors d’oeuvres, drink ticket, cash bar, raffle, choice of seating. The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market, today and tomorrow from 8am to 2pm.  The market, featuring seasonal farmers and other vendors is at Grand River Marketplace, corner of Glick Highway and Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson. A cold front will progress south through the area today bringing with it a chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms. The best chance for precipitation will actually come early this morning through roughly sunrise. Highs today will be seasonable in the 60s. Skies will clear out tonight with the threat of frost across Central Lower Michigan. Lows tonight will range from the middle 30s north to around 40 south. A dry weekend is forecast with temperatures that will continue to be near to below normal. Lumen and Coldwater, both 4-1, set to meet as Titans can clinch playoff spot

By Mike Moore Staff Writer                                                                     Photo: Ryan Kerwin, JTV    Jackson — The playoffs are officially on the line.   Yes, that’s a bit dramatic as the sixth week of the MHSAA football season is just a day away, but for the Lumen Christi squad, it’s also true.   Scheduled to play just eight regular season games this fall, the Titans, 4-1 through five games, can officially secure a spot in the 2017 postseason with a win Friday night over Coldwater.   Easier said than done.   “That’s a very well-coached team with some hard-nosed kids,” Lumen coach Herb Brogan said. “They are a tough team to play against.”   Coldwater started the season with three consecutive wins before getting upset by Western 28-21.
