MIS Donates Over $900,000 to Area Organizations in 2017

Michigan International Speedway, MIS Cares and Americrown made a difference in the lives of many across the Irish Hills area in 2017.  And the giving does not stop when the calendar turned to 2018. MIS and its sister company Americrown combined to donate a total of $907,587 to local service groups and organizations through cash donations, in-kind donations, work programs, grants and sponsorships, as well as tickets and merchandise that clubs raffled to raise money. “It is important to always find ways to give back to the local community we are proud to live in,” track President Rick Brenner said. “We are proud of how much we were able to give back and how many organizations we helped in 2017. We have big plans for 2018 and are excited to continue to make a difference.” MIS Cares will award at least 10 scholarships as part of an ongoing initiative to promote learning among students at all educational levels in 2018. The scholarship is open to any graduating senior in Jackson or Lenawee County who is entering a STEAM-related (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) field at a college, university or trade school in the state of Michigan. All eligible students can…

Warm Up Continues

Warmer air will continue to surge into the area over the course of the next couple days. High pressure situated across the area this morning will slide to the east today and allow south winds to develop tonight. The south flow intensifies for Wednesday through Thursday when we are looking for rain, fog and drizzle. A snow melt will be in full swing during this period. Some dense fog is certainly possible as warm air rides over a melting snow pack.  On the leading edge of the warmer air, a wintry mix of precipitation is possible late tonight and Wednesday morning. A brief period of snow, sleet and freezing rain is in the forecast for this time period. High temperatures will warm from the 30s today to the 40s on Wednesday and the 50s on Thursday. Today Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm. Tonight A chance of snow showers after 4am, mixing with sleet after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. South southeast wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Wednesday Freezing rain likely before 9am, then rain likely, possibly…
