EPA Awards JPS $8.3 Million for 21 Electric School Buses

(October 26, 2022 7:25 PM) Michigan’s two U.S. Senators, Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters announced today that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is awarding $54,060,000 to Michigan schools to purchase electric buses. These awards are administered through the EPA’s Clean School Bus Program. This funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which Senators Stabenow and Peters voted for in November 2021. Jackson Public Schools is being awarded $ 8,295,000 for the district to purchase 21 electric school buses. Other area districts receiving awards are Homer Community School District, 7 buses, $2,765,000, and Onsted Community Schools, 3 buses, $1,185,000 “Electric school buses will make a big difference for schools across Michigan. This investment will improve air quality while helping our school districts cut their transportation costs and keep more resources in the classroom. It’s a great step to protect the health of our children and save schools money,” said Senator Stabenow. “I’m proud to have supported the bipartisan infrastructure law that is now providing this funding to help replace school buses across Michigan. Cross Country Regionals This Weekend
(October 26, 2022 4:13 PM) The road to the Michigan High School Athletic Association state cross country finals continues this weekend with regional competitions at various events. Napoleon High School will host Division 3 and Division 4 competitions on Friday with 10 area schools competing. The three top teams at each regional qualify for the state meet Nov. 5, at Michigan International Speedway. The top seven individuals and all seven members of the qualifying schools will also run at the state meet. Here are the dates, locations, and times of Jackson County schools that will compete at regionals.
