High pressure over Quebec will provide one more dry day before low pressure lifting north from the Tennessee Valley spreads showers into the region tonight and Saturday. Although that system will exit by Sunday, another slow moving system approaching from the Central Plains will bring more scattered showers and possible thunderstorms for early next week. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Flood Warning for the Grand River At Jackson thru Monday May 21.  Dry weather is forecast through the end of the work week with high pressure in place across the Great Lakes region through that time. Skies will vary between mostly clear and partly cloudy through Friday. Highs will push into the 70s Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A few spots may even reach the 80 degree mark. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Flood Warning for the Grand River At Jackson from Tuesday evening to Monday May 21.  The widespread rain is finally tapering off early this morning across Southern Lower Michigan. Some scattered showers and possibly an isolated thunderstorm will remain in the forecast today as a cold front slips south through the region. Much drier air will move in tonight on north winds, setting the stage for a precipitation free period that will last much of the rest of the work week. Periods of rain with some embedded thunderstorms are expected into Sunday. This is due to a stationary front stalled just to our south. As waves traveling along the front, periods of showers will be the result. It will be cooler than normal through Sunday. On Sunday into Monday the front gets pushed just far enough south to bring dry weather back to the area. However by mid week the front pushes north again with more showers and thunderstorms expected.
