Baseball

Columbia Central 4, Homer 0: Noah Danker pitched a three-hitter for the Golden Eagles. Blake Hoskins finished with two hits for Columbia Central.

Columbia Central 13, Homer 3: The Golden Eagles scored 13 runs on only seven hits. Noah Dankert and Blake Hoskins each finished with one hit and two RBIs for CCHS.

Concord 7, Whiteford 5: The Yellowjackets scored four times in the seventh inning to pull out the win. Carter Arbuckle finished with three hits and two RBIs and Jordan Medellin added three hits for Concord.

Whiteford 12, Concord 1: Dustin Hamilton finished with two of the Yellowjackets four hits in the contest.

Michigan Center 1, East Jackson 0: The Cardinals scored one run in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out the win on a Brennan Forward single. Leland VanEpps pitched all eight innings for MCHS striking out 15 batters. Caleb Weaver finished with two of the Trojans’ four hits in the close contest.

Michigan Center 9, East Jackson 0: Dylan Whitmill pitched a one-hitter for the Cardinals striking out 13 batters in the process. Whitmill also recorded a pair of hits and knocked in two runs for MCHS. K.J. Oliver had the only hit for East Jackson.

Grass Lake 14, Manchester 12: Grass Lake scored eight runs in the first inning against Manchester. Sal Vitale and Brayden Lape each finished with three hits for Grass Lake.

Grass Lake 9, Manchester 2: Grass Lake scored all nine runs in the first two innings of the game. Jacob Collins finished with two hits and two RBIs for Grass Lake.

Hanover-Horton 15, Vandercook Lake 0: Luke Soper had three hits and knocked in six runs and Austin Leonard finished with four hits for Hanover-Horton. Jack Wooster pitched a one-hitter striking out 10 batters for the Comets. Justin Barnes had the hit for the Jayhawks.

Hanover-Horton 13, Vandercook Lake 0: Channing Hull pitched a two-hitter for the Comets striking out eight batters in five innings pitched. Dallas Swaenepoel finished with a double for the Jayhawks.

Chelsea 8, Jackson 0: The Vikings finished with only two hits – by Zander Resor and Ty Northrup – in the SEC contest.

Chelsea 11, Jackson 1: Connor Bush finished with two hits in the contest for Jackson.

Napoleon 2, Leslie 1: Grant Bradley struck out 16 of the 26 batters he faced on the mound for Napoleon. Christian Nykamp and Reed Vincent each finished with one hit and one RBI for Napoleon.

Napoleon 4, Leslie 3: Tyler Nall earned the pitching win and Logan Hartman the save for Napoleon. Nall had one hit and knocked in one run for the Pirates.

Northwest 5, Madison 4: The Mounties scored five runs in the last two innings of the home game. Avery Anspaugh finished with two hits and two RBIs and Douglas Putnam added two hits and one RBI.

Madison 4, Northwest 3: Carter Fairley finished with one hit and an RBI for Northwest. The Mounties could only muster three hits in the contest.

Softball

Homer 5, Columbia Central 4: Homer scored three times in the eighth inning to pull out the win. Gianna Evans and Hailey Wetherby both finished with two hits for CCHS.

Columbia Central 4, Homer 3: Kelsey Fausz collected three hits and knocked in two runs for CCHS in the win.

Hanover-Horton 18, Vandercook Lake 0: The Comets scored 11 times in the second inning Alexyn DuBois and Dani Swihart each hit home runs in the contest and Alexis Flint knocked in four runs. Katie Donaldson and Erin Riddle each had hits for the Jayhawks.

Hanover-Horton 18, Vandercook Lake 0: Dani Riggs, Alexyn DuBois, and Halle Swihart each hit home runs for the Comets in the win. Alexis Flint pitched a one-hitter for HHHS.

Michigan Center 15, East Jackson 5: Kylie McKee and Mackenzie Fredrickson each finished with three hits and two RBIs in the contest. Emily Uyttenhove finished with three hits for the Trojans.

Michigan Center 14, East Jackson 2: Emma Pond finished with two hits and two RBIs and Rylie Anderson earned the win striking out eight on the mound for MCHS. Emily Uyttenhove finished with two of the Trojans’ four hits in the contest. 

Grass Lake 15, Manchester 0: Morgan Conrad pitched a three-inning no hitter striking out five of nine batters faced. Rylie Fitzpatrick finished with three hits and four RBIS and Emily Brown added three hits for Grass Lake.

Grass Lake 11, Manchester 1: Rylie Fitzpatrick finished with three hits and two RBIs and Morgan Conrad hit a homer for the Warriors. Olivia Turner and Emily Brown each tallied two hits and two RBIs for Grass Lake. The Warriors remain undefeated in Cascades Conference play.

Notre Dame 4, Lumen Christi 0: Lily Ganton had two of the Titans’ three hits in the contest.

Leslie 11, Napoleon 0: Ada Bradford pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11 batters for Leslie. Hayden Rendall had a triple for the Pirates.

Leslie 6, Napoleon 0: The Pirates were shut out for a second time with only hits by Hayden Rendall and Maggie Beer. Ada Bradford and Jalen Fossitt each finished with two hits and an RBI for Leslie.

Girls Soccer

Columbia Central 5, Jonesville 0: Kennedy Salter scored a pair of goals in the first half for CCHS. Single goals were scored by Peyton Huston, May Alldaffer, and Mara Henry. Kolie Brown earned the shutout in goal for Columbia Central (9-4 overall, 7-3 Cascades).

Manchester 6, Grass Lake 0

Michigan Center 7, Hanover-Horton 1: Lydia Meyer scored five goals and Kaleigha Lane and Julia Reynolds each added one goal for MCHS.

Springport 6, Jackson Christian 0

Tecumseh 3, Jackson 2: Alaina Martindale had two goals for Jackson at home Monday. 

Leslie 8, Napoleon 0: Joy Flack finished with 27 saves in net for our Pirates.

Northwest 8, Stockbridge 0

Boys Golf

Cascades Golf at Homer: Hanover-Horton won the event with 343, Columbia Central was second at 349, Michigan Center placed fourth with 364, Napoleon scored 405 for seventh place, Grass Lake was two strokes behind the Pirates, and Vandercook Lake finished 11th scoring 492. Hoyt Wrona of Hanover-Horton was the medalist with 76, Hayden Carter of CCHS was second scoring 80, Bristen Cekander shot an 82 for Hanover-Horton to claim third place, Braden Yudt of Grass Lake was fifth with 84, and Cayne Hays of Michigan Center finished eighth with 86.

Jackson Christian at Climax-Scott: The Royals finished second with 185 in the SCAA jamboree. Jonathan Locke finished with a 41 for JCHS.

Holt Invitational: Western High School finished third (320) and Lumen Christi was 12th (346) at Eldorado Golf Course. Hayden Kim finished second individually with a 72. Lumen Christi was led by Brandon Kulka with an 80.

Lakeview Invitational: Northwest High School finished third at Cedar Creek Golf Course scoring 305. Cody Rowe shot a 74 and J.J. Miller added a 76 for the Mounties.

Girls Tennis

SMITL Final at Columbia Central: The Golden Eagles won its fourth consecutive Southern Michigan Independent Tennis League Championship at home Monday with 41 points. Arianna Gaskill and Lily Ellison won singles titles at Nos. 1 and 4 respectively for the Golden Eagles.

Northwest 5, Pennfield 3: The Mounties earned a win Monday at home during senior night. Northwest swept the doubles competitions with wins by Kayli Shackelford/Melia Piloske at No. 1 doubles, Maddy McPherson/Audrey Davis at No. 2 doubles, Abrielle Tayor/Addison Surbrook won 6-1 and 6-0 at No. 3 doubles, and Lindsea Baker/Ally Thrun won at No. 4 doubles.

Western 7, Harper Creek 1: The Panthers remained undefeated in Interstate-8 Conference play. Ali Carmody, Kiiona Carmody, and Natalie Hyde scored singles wins for the Panthers at Nos. 2-4 respectively.

Spring Arbor at Crossroads League Tournament: Rory Myers and Brett Casto are tied for 15th after two rounds of the tournament with 148 for 36 holes. Spring Arbor is seventh in the team competition at plus-27. Marian University lead the tournament at 31 under par.
