Events of August 9, 2017

Today is “Pay One Price Day” at the Jackson County Fair.  Buy a ride bracelet once inside for $25.  Bracelets are sold until 8:30pm.  Morning 4-H Judging of Open Class Dairy and Goat at 9 am. and Dairy Judging at 1 pm.  Bingo tent opens at 12 pm, rides open at 2 pm.  4-H Horse & Pony Showmanship Championship and & Hippology Awards at 8pm.  Tonight’s grandstand performers are Aaron Tippin, Sammy Kershaw and Mark Chestnutt with “Roots and Boots Country Jam”.  Hospitality tent opens at 6 pm, show at 7 pm.  Tickets are $24 and $49.  Career Quest Learning Centers will be holding a Grand Reopening today from 11 am to 6 pm.  The Jackson Campus is located at the Commonwealth Commerce Center, 209 E. Events of Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Today is “$2 Tuesday” at the Jackson County Fair, with $2 admission, $2 food specials, $2 vendor specials and $2 rides.  4-H judging in the morning:  Swine, Horse & Pony, and Poultry.  The Bingo Tent opens at 12 pm, rides open at 2 pm. 4-H Beef judging is at 6 pm.  Tonight’s Grandstand Show features Flo Ride with special guest Macy Kate.  Tickets are $39, $49 and $69.  Hospitality tent opens at 6 pm, show at 7 pm. Today is Michigan Primary Election Day.  Voters in Summit, Pulaski and Jackson have issues and races to decide.  In Summit Township, there is a road improvement bond proposal.  Pulaski Township has a special road millage proposal.  In the City of Jackson, Wards 3 and 5 have City Council primary candidates. The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market, today from 8am to 2pm.  The market, featuring seasonal farmers and other vendors is at Grand River Marketplace, corner of Glick Highway and Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson. Men’s Red Division Cloverland Tattoo 10  Shamrock Bar  9.  Josh Williams went 3 for 4 with a Grand Slam while Mick Valentine also went 3 of 4 to lead Cloverland Tattoo.  Toby Swann Went 4 for 4 hitting for the cycle and Jeff Yoell went 3 for 4 for Shamrock Bar.   Dawn Foods 9  Rightway Automotive 5.  Lee Vickers, Brandon Skimmer, Larry Potter and Korey Stewart each went 2 for 3 to guide Dawn Foods.  Rob Hicock went 3 for 4 and Jason Parren went 2 for 3 to lead Rightway Automotive.   Anna’s Porch Café/Jackson Truck Service 4  Isselhardt Nissan 3.  Gary Adams, Brandon Fowler, Jeremy Lust and Carl Thayer each went 2 for 3 to lead Anna’s Porch Café/Jackson Truck Service.  Tim Barnes went 3 for 3 and Matt Brown also went 3 for 3 with a double for Isselhardt Nissan.   Men’s White Division Leimenstoll Services/UAW 17  Budget Tire 5.  Corey Lenski, Bruce Mast and Colin Lefere each went 3 for 3 with a double for Leimenstoll/UAW.  Tyler Shuberg went 4 for 4 and Gary Smith went 3 for 3 with a double for Budget Tire.   First Glimpse 10  Radiators 9.  Jeff Feller went 3…
