Animals in Winter presented by Potter Park Zoo.  Try something a little different during Winter break! Join us in the Community Room and meet some of the residents of the Potter Park Zoo and learn how they prepare for Winter. Take time to visit the Andrews Gallery of Wildlife Art while you're here. An area of low pressure will track through the region today and tonight. This system will result in locally heavy snowfall...especially near the lakeshore impacting travel. Another low pressure system arrives for Friday night into Saturday. As a result additional snowfall is forecast. The arctic airmass is forecasted to continue through the end of the week. Today A 20 percent chance of snow showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 12. Wind chill values as low as -10. Calm wind becoming south southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Wind Chill Advisory

WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS MORNING.  Very cold wind chills expected. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin. Expect wind chills to range from 15 below zero to 25 below zero. A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves. Bitterly cold arctic air will continue along with lake effect snow showers into next week. Temperatures tonight will fall below zero in most places. A clipper will bring some more widespread snow late Thursday and Friday with the heavier amounts near Lake Michigan.
