The State of Michigan is reporting 7 COVID-19-related deaths today, with the state total now at 6,126. City of Jackson Stresses Importance of Special Event Approval

(July 20, 2020 12:23 PM) The City of Jackson is reminding residents and event organizers of the importance of following special event procedures. When a public event is held in a City park, recreation facility or street, it’s essential to go through the approval process to secure a location for the event and protect the safety of the community. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of dozens of community events. Since the Stay at Home order was lifted, the City has seen multiple un-permitted events quickly organized and held in City parks and outdoor recreation facilities. A completed Special Event Application (PDF) must be received by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) 60 days before the event. Applications are accepted by the DDA and forwarded to other committees and departments for review before final City Council approval. All organizers are now required to include COVID-19 safety plans in their applications. Jackson County Cumulative Report: 561 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 31 Deaths

(July 20, 2020 12:00 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12 PM today, there are 561 positive cases (cumulative), and 31 deaths (cumulative)*.     There are 3 new cases since yesterday’s report.    The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 2:45 PM Sunday, July 19, there are 1,379 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 158 confirmed positive staff cases. As of 10 AM July 16, there are 3 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19. Cumulative recovered** patients (cumulative): 436 (updated weekly, as of July 17). *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category "Others" for the Michigan Statistics. **Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available).
