Jackson County Cumulative Report: 509 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 31 Deaths

(July 8, 2020 1:48 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12 PM today, there are 509 positive cases (cumulative), and 31 deaths (cumulative)*.     There are 3 new cases since yesterday’s report.  The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 4 PM Monday, July 6, there are 1,608 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 157 confirmed positive staff cases. As of 7 AM July 8, there are 2 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated inpatient for COVID-19. Cumulative recovered** patients (cumulative): 431 (updated weekly, as of July 3). *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category "Others" for the Michigan Statistics. **Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available). Ella Sharp Museum Cancels First Patio Party due to Heat

(July 8, 2020 10:30 AM) Ella Sharp Museum has announced the cancelation of this Thursday’s Patio Party due to the extreme heat.  Patio Parties this year are planned in a new location, Farm Lane, which has no shade.  Due to COVID restrictions, Ella Sharp Museum will not be providing chairs or tables at this year’s parties. The museum plans to begin the summer series next Thursday, July 16th at 5:30 PM with entertainment by Steve Berkemeier.  Food will be provided by the 308 Brass Rail. Guests are asked to bring their own chairs and umbrellas are not allowed.  Beverage and food service provided by museum staff delivering to your seat.  Admission is free for members, $5 for non-members.  Beverages available for purchase. Jackson City Hall Reopens to Public Following COVID-19 Closure

(July 8, 2020 8:43 AM) After a COVID-19 closure that’s lasted nearly four months, Jackson City Hall officially reopened to the public today. Reopening City Hall comes with the following safety measures to protect public health: • Anyone entering City Hall must be wearing a face covering in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order 115- Section 6. It’s the law! • No more than two people are allowed in an elevator at a time. • Every floor that is open to the public has strict capacity limits. If the capacity limit is reached, residents will be asked to sit in a secondary waiting room. • Because of capacity limits, the City is asking residents to limit the number of people accompanying them into City Hall to conduct business. • Meetings with residents will take place virtually or by appointment only. If an in-person meeting is required, they will happen in a large meeting room where participants can safely social distance. Henry Ford Allegiance Health to Host Virtual Race to Health

(July 7, 2020 5:08 PM) To protect the health and safety of participants, Henry Ford Allegiance Health has announced its annual Race to Health will be a virtual event in September 2020. Runners and walkers will choose a day within the range of September 12 through 26 to participate in the 5K run, 5K walk or 5-mile run individually. They will then report their times and be recognized for being part of this health-promoting community event. Details on the virtual race and other run/walk events are available later this year on social media and HenryFord.com/Race. Registration is available online. In May, HFAH announced it was postponing its 2020 Henry Ford Allegiance Health Get Moving! (July 7, 2020 3:17 PM) Michigan reported 454 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 66,627. The State of Michigan is reporting 30* COVID-19-related deaths today, with the state total now at 6,005.  *The deaths announced today includes 20 deaths identified during a Vital Records review.
