Michigan Reports 3,120* Coronavirus Cases, State Total Now 2,054,891

(February 25, 2022 3:29 PM)  Michigan reported 3,120* coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 2,051,771. Michigan is reporting 96** COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 31,791.   *Note on cases (02/25/2022): Today's daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since the last web update report.  Over the two days (Thursday and Friday), the average number of new confirmed cases is 1,560 per day. **The deaths announced today includes 54 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. See cumulative data page for more information. Information is updated Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 39,020 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 522 Deaths

(February 25, 2022 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 39,020 positive cases (cumulative), and 522 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 30 new cases since yesterday’s report.  As of February 21, there are 13 persons being treated as inpatients for COVID-19 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  Cumulative recovered, as of February 25:  36,593** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. Girls basketball Columbia Central 62, Dundee 35: Zoie Bamm scored 25 points and snagged 16 rebounds and Anna McCollum tallied 20 points for CCHS. Tadassa Brown scored seven points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Columbia Central (14-4).  Grass Lake 53, Jonesville 30: Grass Lake ends the regular season with a 14-5 overall record.  Napoleon 44, Homer 41: Momo Hampton led Napoleon with 22 points, Camryn Smilowski added eight points, and Emily Smilowski scored six points. Napoleon is 7-12 on the season.   Concord 45, Quincy 40: Concord is 6-11 on the season following the Big Eight Conference win.    East Jackson 56, Springport 42: Mariah Kerley scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Savana Stewart added 12 points and six steals for East Jackson (16-4).
