Baseball Ida 4, Columbia Central 3: Ethan Stewart and Nolan Slatt combined for a four-hitter for CCHS in the loss. Ida 8, Columbia Central 4: Ida scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Cameron Adams and Ethan Stewart each had doubles for CCHS. Homer 9, Concord 1: Levi Raymond had one hit and knocked in the only run for Concord. Concord 9, Homer 9: The game was tied midway through the sixth inning when it was called due to darkness. Levi Raymond, Tyler Carpenter, and Isaac Waldron each had two hits in the contest for Concord. Lumen Christi 3, Marshall 1: Garrett Swan had a pair of hits and knocked in a run for the Titans. Marshall 11, Lumen Christi 3: Max McCluskey had two hits and knocked in two RBIs for Lumen Christi (15-7-2). Northwest 2, Coldwater 1: Trey Collard delivered the winning RBI for Northwest in the bottom of the sixth inning. Gage Race earned the pitching win scattering three hits and striking out four batters in seven innings pitched. Ride of Silence. Cascades Cycling Club will host the Ride of Silence in Jackson on Wednesday, May 18 starting from Horace Blackman Park in downtown Jackson. The ride will be an 8 mile “slow roll” through town to pay our respects to riders who have been injured or killed while cycling, and to remind motorists and city officials of our right to ride on public streets. This will be a police-escorted ride. Horace Blackman Park Ample parking can be found on Pearl Street, with additional parking on the streets bordering the park such as Jackson Street and Michigan Avenue. Plan to arrive early as the ride will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Jackson Shred Day. 4 PM to 6 PM. Due to popular demand, American 1 Credit Union is having an additional Shred Day event in our Jackson community on May 18 from 4-6 pm at Westwood Mall. Jets Softball Takes District Championship; Vandenburgh Named Coach of Year

(May 17, 2022 7:23 PM) The Jackson College Jets softball team captured the Great Lakes District A Softball Championship title Saturday. The Jets were undefeated in the tourney, topping Kalamazoo Valley CC 8-0 in game 1, Muskegon CC 3-1 in game 2, Lansing CC 4-3 in game 5, and again facing Lansing in the final game, winning with a score of 8-0. The Jets advance to the NJCAA Division II National Championship in Oxford, AL, May 24-28. They are 20-8 in the MCCAA and 34-12 overall. “I think the team went into the weekend with a little chip on their shoulder, having not secured a share of the conference championship and landing the no. 5 seed.” said coach Jamie Vandenburgh. “We took advantage of opportunities when we had them, and a couple timely big hits helped propel us forward. “What I was most impressed with was their team camaraderie.
