Tap your feet to the jive holiday sounds of Swing’n the Holidays: Featuring The Jive Aces & Special Guests, The Satin Dollz, performing at the Potter Center at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. Direct from London, The Jive Aces are renowned for their superior musicianship and spectacular stage show, and are widely heralded as the UK’s Premiere Swing Band. They will welcome special guests, Los Angeles-based The Satin Dollz. Having become the first-ever band to reach the semi-finals of “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2012 following up with a performance for Her Majesty The Queen as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and performances for both the Olympic and Paralympic celebrations, The Jive Aces have truly established themselves as the UK’s top jive & swing band. They came together as a group of lads from London drawn by their love for a style and music that outclassed anything around. Tecumseh, Michigan – Come celebrate the Season with the Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) Big Band & VocalAires as they present their 12th annual holiday concert, Sunday, December 13 beginning at 4 pm.  Enjoy tried and true Christmas carols with a few surprises during this year’s performance. With tickets at just $10 each, the whole family can enjoy a musical celebration that is sure to become part of your holiday traditions. Along with their annual concerts at the TCA in May and December, the TCA Big Band & VocalAires has performed at numerous shows, festivals, and benefits. They have been the opening act for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and several orchestras, including the Glenn Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Arte Shaw, Benny Goodman, and Cab Calloway Orchestras. The band has performed well over 100 times, not only in Lenawee County, but also in Washtenaw, Monroe, and Jackson Counties in Michigan, and Lucas County in Ohio. Join the Jackson Community Concert Band for a special fall concert, “Picture Perfect,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center. Program for this concert includes two pieces relating to art, “Scenes from ‘The Louvre’” by Norman Dello Joio and “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Modeste Moussorgsky. Visual images of the works of art that inspired the music will be projected over the band during the performance. Also on the program will be the “Children’s March, ‘Over the Hills and Far Away’” by Percy Aldridge Grainger, and two movements of “Symphonic Dances,” by Yosuke Fukuda, the “Renaissance Dances” and “Tango.” The Jackson Community Concert Band is comprised of Jackson College students and community members, under the direction of Conductor Ronald L. Douglass. The band rehearses Tuesday nights in Potter Center, under Douglass’s direction. Concert is free and all are welcome!
