A Taste of Summer

A little taste of summer is expected today as south winds increase behind a warm front and dewpoints climb to around 60s. The air will begin to feel humid and temperatures will climb into the mid 80s. Next weekend looks to be rather wet as low pressure moves northeast from the Southern Plains. One More Day of Fair Weather

High pressure will provide one more day of fair weather then a warm front will bring showers and a few thunderstorms tonight and into Tuesday. Warmer and more humid weather will move in for Tuesday and Wednesday before a cold front arrives Wednesday night. Today:  Sunny, with a high near 73. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph Tonight:  A slight chance of showers between 11pm and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 53. High pressure will bring sunny skies and lighter winds today although temperatures will still be below normal. Another threat of frost or freezing temperatures exists tonight, but that will be followed by temperatures moderating to near normal for the mid to late week period. Freeze Warning Tonight

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Freeze Warning which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 9 AM EDT Monday for all of Southern Lower Michigan. Temperatures will fall to 25 to 30 degrees tonight.  Sensitive vegetation that is not protected will be harmed by subfreezing temperatures. Those with agricultural interests in the warned area are advised to protect tender vegetation. Potted plants normally left outdoors should be covered or brought inside away from the cold. Breezy and cool weather is in store again today although skies will be sunny. Frost and freezing temperatures can be expected tonight as winds diminish. Another threat of frost will exist Monday night then temperatures will moderate to closer to normal by the middle of next week. However another stretch of below normal temperatures appears likely for Mothers Day weekend. Today:  Sunny, with a high near 53. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
